Chief Operating Officer Adel Ahmed Al-Reda announced that the United Arab Emirates’ leading airline, Emirates Airline, will soon adopt “bitcoin as a payment service. In addition, the airline will add collectibles in the form of non-exchangeable tokens (NFTs) to its web page.
Reports of the airline’s plans to introduce bitcoin came just weeks after plans for NFT and the meta-universe were announced. The company’s goal in launching the meta-universe is to ensure that the airline is aligned with “the UAE’s vision of a digital economy.”
Al-Reda said his company may have to hire employees to help create apps that track customer needs:
NFT and the meta-universe are two different applications and approaches. With a meta-universe, you can transform all of your processes, whether it’s work, training, website sales or a complete experience, into a meta-universe-type app, but more importantly, make it interactive.
The statement does not directly indicate that the airline plans to launch bitcoin payments.
