BlockTower Capital CIO Ari Paul criticized crypto analyst PlanB in a tweet, accusing the popular Dutch trader of making “aggressively stupid” price predictions.
PlanB’s Stock-to-Flow (S2F) model, which assumes the bitcoin price is constantly rising due to deflation, has become very popular in the cryptocurrency community. It has made PlanB one of the influential writers on Twitter with more than 1.8 million followers.
However, the analyst became the subject of ridicule after bitcoin failed to reach the $100,000 mark by the end of 2021, peaking at only $69,000 in early November. Despite this, PlanB refused to acknowledge the model as unworkable and assured its followers that it was only behind schedule.
After bitcoin fell even further in early 2022 and went into the $25,000 range in May, PlanB stuck to his opinion. In a recent tweet, he explained that bitcoin would reach $500,000 by the end of 2025.
PlanB went on to defend its model, arguing that it does not account for “black swan” events. Ari Paul was not satisfied with these explanations, and he called the predictions a “malicious fraud.”
