Musicians can already promote merchandise and tickets on their Spotify profiles-the streaming service is already testing a feature that will allow them to promote their NFTs.
Apparently, artists Steve Aoki and The Wombats were among the first to take part in the test, which is being conducted for select users of the Spotify Android app in the U.S. Participants in this process could browse NFTs on artists’ profile pages and then buy them on external marketplaces.
Spotify is conducting a test in which a small group of artists will be able to promote third-party NFT offerings through their artist profiles, a Spotify spokesperson told Music Ally.
The results of the experiment will help decide whether to offer this innovation as a full-fledged feature for all musicians.
On May 13, some Spotify users tweeted about a survey the service asked them to participate in to find out their feelings about NFT.
Depending on all the findings, Spotify could also target more ambitious projects with NFT in the future.
